Temporary power for cargo ship temperature regulation.

The Challenge

A new customer contacted our team on a Wednesday afternoon looking to hire a generator to power temperature regulators on a cargo ship travelling to Rotterdam.

With the generator needed on site in Falmouth within 24 hours, the Generator Power team needed to work quickly to make sure all equipment could be organised and delivered in time.

The Solution

Our sales engineer in the South West liaised with the customer to gain a clear understanding of exactly what needed to be powered, and determined that they required a 1000kVA generator running at 60hz, 400v along with 100m of cable. An engineer was also required to assist our customer’s on-site team with installation.

Because the hire equipment was being transported to the Netherlands, our accounts department worked tirelessly to ensure an international customer account could be set up within the short time frame, providing guidance on the insurance documentation required.

A team of engineers then worked through the night at our Reading depot to prepare all of the equipment ready for deployment first thing in the morning. The kit was delivered to site by 12:30pm ready to be loaded onto the vessel and connected to the customer’s equipment.

A Generator Power engineer remained onboard to monitor the generator throughout the journey to make sure there would be no problems during transit.
